10 years in the making…

The South Australian founded social club – the Unearthing Wine Group – turns 10 years this month. Their Founder, Charlie-Helen Robinson, says they, “have been socially active, sharing unique wine experiences since 2007“.

They are also well known for sharing their charitable spirit and generosity.

It is known one in five Australians will suffer from a mental illness in any given year.

During their 10 years, the social group has been known to participate in many charity events and fundraisers; from the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life, to Variety shows and general community fundraisers, to raising money for the Heart Foundation, with Founder Charlie-Helen Robinson becoming a Healthy Heart Champion in 2011 by way of thanks from the Heart Foundation themselves.

For their 10 year celebration, the social group are again raising money for charity; this time for mental health.

They will donate proceeds from their Inaugural Vintage Ball, being held Saturday 22 April, to the Chat โ€˜nโ€™ Chew program, managed by Uniting Care Wesley, Port Adelaide.

Having previously donated to this program at Christmas, the group will again dig deep to ensure their night of celebration achieves a bigger success to help others.

Uniting Care Wesley’s program, Chat โ€˜nโ€™ Chew, provides an opportunity for more than 700 people each year to enjoy some independence, make friends and feel connected with others in the local community.

Founder, Charlie-Helen Robinson says, “It is important to our social group members to always consider and support others if we have the opportunity.”

Charlie-Helen said she was immensely proud of how everyone in the social group had rallied behind the evenings cause.

Even before the event has commenced she knows the group have raised $1000 and look set to raise more on the night.

She explained many had gone into their own wine collections to donate bottles for a “wine wall” or have shared items for a silent auction, to help raise more funds, in a grass roots community group, supporting a grass roots community group style.

She says, “While we have a great time and enjoy ourselves, we recognise not everyone does, or can.ย This is a simple way we can support those people in our community.
