Preserving the camaraderie and pleasures of the table

 

Adelaide, South Australia, 03 February, 2014:

The South Australian Bailliage la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is being revived under the leadership of the new Bailli Délégué Norm Harrison.

The Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs™ is an international gastronomic society devoted to promoting fine dining and preserving the camaraderie and pleasures of the table. In fact, it is the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world and although the modern day Chaîne began in 1950, the traditions and practices used are based on those of the old French guild of roasters, whose written history dates back to 1248.

The society now has members in more than seventy countries, with two types or groups of people joining activities: individuals and professionals.

La Chaîne is known to bring together individuals and professionals from all over the world, whether they are hoteliers, restaurateurs, executive chefs or sommeliers, in the appreciation of fine cuisine.

La Chaine des Rotisseurs new Bailli Délégué’s vision, events and activities planned for the coming year, promises to deliver new and interesting gourmet experiences. His vision for South Australian chapter includes revamping the young chef and sommelier competitions and increasing support for the hospitality industry. An exciting chapter lies ahead.

The Bailli Délégué Australia, Mr Norm Harrison will welcome National Committee Members, and their partners, to a dinner to be held in Adelaide at ‘Regattas bistro + bar’, Adelaide Convention Centre, on Saturday 8th February 2014. On this weekend, he will also host the Annual General Meeting, marking an important milestone for South Australia’s future directions.

It is the continued interest and support of the professional and non-professional members; from restaurateurs, hoteliers, caterers, industry suppliers and vintners, which allow this International society to maintain its sophisticated standards.

The 2014 edition of the Concours International des Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs will take place in Durban, South Africa, on 5 September, 2014 and the national winner, from Australia, will fly over to experience and take part in this International Chaîne competition. The first competition was organized in 1977 in Switzerland to support and promote future young chefs by giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

La Chaîne will host a Cocktail Party at Muratti Cakes & Gateaux at 144B Prospect Road, Prospect on the 21st March for interested parties, with proceeds of this event going towards the young chefs competition. The event will be sponsored by Moët & Chandon, Le Cordon Bleu and Paracombe Wines.
