election advertisements


i’ll say upfront (so i dont put off 50% of you) i dont like ANY of them.

i am so over election commercials. i dont really watch TV so anything like this is going to cause me grief regardless. but these are the painful variety because they are SO FREQUENT. have they paid for ever second of air play they can possibly muster? and if they have – what is the cost??

it (the cost) must be enormous. now, i know… not all of it is from tax payers dollars. this is the good bit. but if it isnt all from tax payers dollars, it is from somewhere else. right? so, it would be from a corporate? a personal wealth income or similar. in fact, a source of income that could be put to better use like supporting a charity, health service or our community.

is a paid advertisement worthy of this replacement? this loss of income for supporting our community. do we need it?

not in my opinion. but is it just me? what do you think?

  1. So agree with you – I think it has been the worst type of advertising this year from ALL parties – and the saturation is ridiculous. A limit on how many ads per day is needed. Half of the things both sides campaign about could probably be paid for with the ads!!

    1. so so true !! its quite disgraceful. and then this morning i heard that Gillard is going to spend $2bil to save a seat? will those people feel a little annoyed when election is complete and it’s all false promises? i know adelaidians have been let down over the adelaide oval and RAH scenarios… and then with our state election where the labour party handed out misleading flyers – im starting to think elections are a complete waste of time and energy – AND – a bigger waste of money.

      the money should be used for more meaningful purposes and all this spin and crap!!

      i wish she’d spend $2bil to release the friggin water report!! TODAY!!

  2. I totally agree, the amount of saturation this year is ridiculous. The money could most certainly be put to better use. Surely a limit on how many ads can be shown in a day would be sensible.
